For the last day of 2008, I shot a series of images on the last sunset and subsequently, a series of images on the first sunrise of 2009. For 09/10, I signed up with Eye é City 2009 as a participant. For those unfamiliar with Eye E City, basically Eye is a non-profit organisation (Singapore) which is registered in 2006. Eye is also the host of the annual flagship event which is known as Eye é City. From what I understood,this event is open to all photographers. It is about documenting the last day of each year with visuals (photography). It is about photojournalism (submissions are strictly in black and white) and participants have to return on the next day (1st Jan) to submit their works which I find it a tad too rush personally. Participants can submit up to 36 images. Up to 100 images of the submitted works will be selected by industry veterans for an exhibition cum book publication, which every participant will receive a copy each, whether selected or not. The exhibition and book are indexed in such a way consisting of single images, photo essays(up to 5 images) and the retrospective challenge (up to 11 images taken in 2009 with at least one image captured on the last day of 2009). The theme is open. Results would be out say late Feb to early March (according to a volunteer).

Collecting cardboxes for recycling purposes. Not a career option which many will consider but it is still an income and livelihood for those who are involved. A nation is built on the back of a lorry I thought. The more cardboxes that are collected, the more goods are packed and traded and transported. With trade there is progress and currency exchange and jobs and that makes everyone happy. Can goods be transported via other means besides cartons and cartons of cardboards? How does other countries do that? To move from point A to B, C is just one of the options. What modes of transport does the modern world utilizes in terms of goods travel? What about the ancient world?

2010
Technically, I broke my Photography New Year egg on the 10th Jan via taking my first shots of the year. Technically, people photography/portraiture is not as easy as it sounds. There are various approaches to go about it and I hope to keep an open mind and just enjoy the process, and the interaction (or lack of) with people I met along the way. Watching from the sidelines

Chiefly, there are 3 main event/carnival areas namely Carnival (Padang), Music by the Park (East Coast Lagoon Food Centre) and Park Fiesta (East Coast Park – Angsana Green)

I was glad I had nothing better to do on a Sunday morning, since Dec 6th 2009 was the scheduled date of the SCSM. From the media coverage and local photography forum(Clubsnap), I learnt that this is one running event not to be missed. And indeed, I had a fruitful and entertaining morning, besides witnessing the uplifting atmosphere from the supporters and the runners’s determination. This year’s event saw a registration of 50 000 runners(cap) and there are rumours that the numbers might be raised to 70 000 or 80 000 in the following year. I took about 400+ photos(damn, where’s the focus?) for this event and yes but no, I’m not a child on his first trip to the amusement park. But wait, I might be wrong afterall.

Starlight Alchemy

Artists from Starlight Alchemy were present as street performers for the event. They made their own costumes and were also recently spotted during Singapore’s Bonfire Festival 2009.

Well, technically I wasn’t a cosplayer. The “costumes” which I wore on that
day took less than one minute to put on: black tee, bermuda shorts, pouch and
backpack. Makeup? Bascially, I sprayed some cheap cologne (The text on it
says Inspiration, Eau de Toilette). But wait! I am a cosplayer. Despite appearing uncostumerized (this word doesn’t exist!), I am still wearing a costume and roleplaying a photographer.
